I have a Samsumg HP-S5053 50 inch plasma tv that has developed dead pixels after about a month of operation. There are about 3 - 4 dead pixels (red in color) in one spot. Is this a common occurence for a new set? It is only noticeable during light scenes. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I wouldn't consider televisions with dead pixels a proper occurance. If you bought the TV at a brick and mortar store I would take it back for an exchange if not you could atleast see what samsung says about it.

In the end it really depends on you and how much the dead pixels bug you and what you are willing to do about it.

Read your manual, my Panny manual says that some dead pixels are normal.

I don't know the policy on TVs but most brands of LCD computer monitors have a policy that the set will only be replaced if there are 8-10 dead pixels.
