Hi all... would there be any issue with placing a floor standing tower speaker on a built in cabinet instead of directly on the floor? The cabinet is about 18 inches in height.

Shouldn't be an issue. I do this for my towers as their height is not quite adequate.

When you say on a cabinet, what do you mean?

There can be complications, especially with bass boomyness

It is bascialy a row of 18 inch high cabinets which span the width of the room. There are 18 inch wide doors which give access to storage and AV equipment. The TV and speakers (R, L Center) could sit on top, but I was thinking of wall mounting the TV.

Oh you mean a cabinet attached to the wall? Yeah thats a bad idea. Most manufacturers recommend that you have 12-16 inches of space from the back wall when placing your speakers.
