Placing a 7.1 setup on my ceiling.

I'm looking for a good set of speakers to put on/in my ceiling. I have the following in mind:

Sonance
Triad
Gallo A'Divas
M&K Kseries
M&K Xeons

My room is HUGE but due to beams, pillars etc, the only way I can put my theater into the room is to place the Screen 6 ft away from the rear wall at least 6 feet away from the side walls. The screen isn't acoustically transparent so I can't place behind teh screen, and the ceiling is LOW (7ft) but the room itself is HUGE (45ft x 30 ft). The main listening area is relativly small so I'm hoping I can use a pair of subs and satellites. I like the idea of mounting on the ceiling as opposed to IN the ceiling.

I have a budget of about $3500 for speakers.

Any opinions?

Thanks,

R-S

Raoul,

Is this a large basement? If so, is the entire basement drywalled and carpeted with insulation behind the drywall? I ask because if you go with floorstanders and don't have enough acoustical "dead" treatments, it will sound like a tin can. If the actual listening area is small, I would recommend bookshelves on stands at ear level as opposed to trying to hang speakers from the ceiling. Speaker placement is vital to HT. Room acoustics play a close second to speaker placement. Just a few things to keep in mind before deciding on why type of speakers to buy. You have an excellent budget to work with, so finding the best type of speaker first would be your first priority. Can you show some digital photos of the room?
