Placement of rear speakers with a sectional sofa

I have a question about the placement of the rear speakers of a HT surround system. I've attached a diagram showing my current setup. I have a sectional sofa with walls behind both sections. In the middle (where the two walls meet) there is a space where I placed one rear speaker and the other I placed at one end of the sectional. The two are angled towards the center of the sectional facing the TV unit. The speakers are on stands. I have to put the speaker that is behind the sectional on another pedestal so the speaker is exposed. From an aesthetics (sp?) point of view, it doesn't look very good. Even wall mounting would not work very well. I was wondering if it would be OK to put it at the end of the sofa (near the FP) and point it towards the other rear speaker?

If you are watching the TV from the sofa facing it head on, you need the two speakers on each side. Don't forget to place the Right rear on the right side when you face the TV. As is, it is reversed on your diagram.
