placement of front speakers

:) My components are in a wall unit with fixed shelves.

By neccessity, the middle of my 27"inch TV screen is 2 feet from the right speaker and 4 feet from the left speaker. The center speaker is on a shelf about 5 inches above the top of the TV cabinet and centred above it ( making it also about 2 feet from the right speaker)

Not an ideal placement, but would overall sound benefit from moving the center speaker (a maximum 6 inches) to the left closer to middle of L and R speakers but away from top center of TV screen?

As always,any replies appreciated!

I have a suggestion and a question.

I recommend that you keep the center speaker centered to the middle of the TV. In you dont do this, the vocals will always sound as if they are coming from the side of the TV.

The question is if you can control volume of the speakers individually through the receiver/ processor? If the answer is yes, then you have no problem. Just lower the volume on the left main speaker and the sonic center for the mains will move towards the right :) Play around with this setting using 2 channel audio material and sonically center the mains to your TV.

Hope this helps. Cheers.

agarwalro,

If you don't mind....how do you like your Axiom setup, particularly the M60ti's? Do you wish you had gone larger? How about the 150..like it? How is the transparency of these guys?

To keep it on thread...your advice is perfect. I don't know of any receivers that don't have a balance feature for left-right volume....JUST for this kind of problem. Plus, the newer rx's have timing/distance settings for speakers to further help tweek the sound stage.

Good cheer.
