Hey peeps I noticed something when I was on the pioneer.com website. While taking a closer look at the Pioneer1015 I decided to click the icon for a "bigger" image. Once loaded it appeared to me to say 1016 and not 1015.....hhmmmm.....so is Pioneer teasing us so to speak??? Anybody here noticed this as well???? Or, is my vision not what it use to be--afterall I am a diabetic and sometimes my vision is not the greatest. Would anybody care to take a look and see if I am correct???? It would be much appreciated.

Time for some new specs...

Unless you're looking at a different picture, I just checked the "close up front view" and it most definitely says 1015. However I'm not sure if thats the picture you were talking about. Maybe they did sneak one in on us somewhere. Who knows... When is the 1016 supposed to be released anyway?

Contrary to rumours, when you visit the Pioneer site the differances between the VSX-xx15 series and the VSX-xx16 are very minor, except maybe that they have a new DSP engine.

Could this be pioneers secret weapon? Personally i doubt it, their THD levels and outright sound performance doesnt do them justice compared to Denon, Marantz, Onkyo etc

any updates?
Went ahead and bought the 1015. Down the road I plan to move up to an Elite model or go seperates.

I think the 1016 is missing the front flip-up cover of the 1015. At least from the pics I've seen of it.

The 1016 is up on the pioneer UK site, just not in the US yet. It of course had HDMI 2 in and 1 out, which is what makes it so attractive for the price. It also has THX 2 ultra certification, but who really cares about that.

i just bought a 1015 (after returning an 816) from best buy a couple of weeks ago. i asked the sales people (or whatever they're called!?) if they knew when the 1016 would be there & of course they didn't know, but best buy's website no longer lists the 1015 like it did last week, so the 1016 must be close, very close!!!

i was planning on exchanging the 1015 for the 1016, but the more i've read & seen of the 1016, the more likely i'm going to keep the 1015. i don't need xm & ipod & am more concerned about the home theater performance. i like the 33lb. bulk of the 1015 & it doesn't appear that the 1016 has it...it makes the transistion from harmon kardon a little easier for me....

I like my 1015 just fine.
More important, I noticed DCM's in your sig. 1st time I've seen anybody other than myself using them in this forum. I'm also running three monitor-series (can't remember #) in my bedroom. For all of you that don't know, DCM makes a fantastic speaker.

i'm new to this forum (used to be on audioreview back in the day) & i have to update my sig. after having the dcm's for about ten years, i finally bought my wife some smaller speakers (klipsch quintet III & a klipsch sub12). i bought the 1015 to power her new small speakers. i haven't heard the timeframe's, but the dcm's i have are the LOUD kx-series. they're not the most accurate speaker at a low volume, but when you turn them way up, not many other speakers would be as accurate at that high volume. i enjoy live outdoor concerts & that's why i like my dcm's.

i haven't tried this yet but, eventually i'm going to hook my 212's up to the 1015 & see if the 1015 will drive them (4-ohm speakers). i hope it does...if not, i'll have to get another hk receiver...
