Hi everyone... this is my first post on the audioholics forums :)

I am planning to buy VSX-916-S in the near future, so I'd like to know what is the main difference between this receiver and the VSX-815 reviewed on audioholics.com? I can see no obvious differences, with the exception of the +10W/channel increase and the USB host port (which - USB - is the main reason for deciding to go with the 916 in the first place).

As the USB host feature is very important for me (I am planning to permanently attach a USB hard disk and use it as a media library), I would be very interested to learn how this receiver handles USB media. Does it work? How is the media library organized and navigated? Is there a way to dynamically create playlists (e.g. drop several albums/folders in a single playlist)? Any first-hand experience with this feature would be welcome.

Thanks

The VSX-916 is a European model, I assume you live somewhere in Europe if you are considering purchasing that model. Other than the differences you stated the likely isn't much of a difference between the two. The power change is negligible.

Yes, you're correct.

I was actually more interested in the practicalities/usability of the USB host feature provided by this receiver.

Can anyone who owns a Pioneer receiver with this capability write a couple of words about it? I suspect that the USB implementation is the same/shared between all receivers in the VSX series, so any experiences with it would be much appreciated.

Thanks!
