I picked up the 82 last night
, more of a "sidesway" move then an upgrade audio wise. But it is nice having just the one cable running from the component stand to the tv(HDMI). Also nice having one cable from HD-DVD to rec. again HDMI. I had TEN running from the Denon, when you count 6 channel analogue, three for component and one for didgi coax. So, the A/V area is much neater (WAF)
The Toshiba HD-A1 has been spectacular and erratic. I can get no signal from the sub in HD-DVD test tone, but it shows up in some movies and not others. In End of Days I have bass in the soundtrack, but none in the action???
No boom for explosions. Yet in Batman the bass is tight and deep!
The video is well....
especially Batman!! WOW, Blackest black I have ever scene. The most visually stunning movie I have ever had in my HT. I tried Star Wars Ep. III the opening scenes as well and it was a noticable improvement over the Denon 2900.
I have the S.A. 8300HD plug in with component to the VSX-82 so I'm not sure of the HDMI problems I have heard of. I can't say I notice any difference in the picture, but I can see some jitter in the guide.
More later. Turkey time up here.
