Hi to all!

I have a VSX-60 and would like to use the ZONE2 functionality. I've been trying hard to have this working, already checked wires, and nothing comes out of my speakers.

Could you give me some insight on what could be happening here? Any of you had this functionality set up and working?

Thanks,
Miguel

Welcome to the forum, Miguel!

A couple of things come to mind:
1. The Zone 2 speaker terminals will only output audio signals from analog audio inputs. HDMI and digital audio inputs (i.e. optical and coax digital inputs) can't be used for Zone 2.
2. Make sure that your speaker system setting is set to "Zone 2" instead of the default "Normal(SB/FH)" (see page 81 of your owner's manual for how to do that).

If that doesn't answer your question, please just let us know.

I am trying to decide between some onkyo receivers (616, etc) and this Pioneer VSX60. I really want to be able to play digital sources through the zone 2 analog out.

I have been hunting for the answer on this VSX60.... Are u certain that the zone 2 will only output from analog sources? I say this because there are very few analog inputs on the receiver, it appears to have a solid DAC processor, Airplay passes to zone 2 which i believe is a digital input, and I thought I read that it does convert digital inputs to output analog via the zone 2, although this was from a 3rd party.

Any help would be appreciated. If it turns out the VSX 60 only outputs analog sources via zone 2, does anybody know of a solid alternative in the same price range that outputs dig sources through an analog zone 2 output? Thanks

One of my receivers is a Yamaha Aventage RX-A800 (bought last year), and zone 2 only works with analog inputs. That function isn't limited to just Pioneers.

I have an old Onkyo that also doesn't convert digital to analog for the zone 2, so I'm not doing that again.

Same boat here, what I'm doing is run my optical / coax from my digital sources through my outboard dac and back into one of the analog inputs on my 3313 and then to zone 2.

I also run hdmi from the same sources to the receiver for the main zone.
A$$pain but it works..

Should've bought the 3312 as it would send PCM to zone 2. Luckily I had the XDA-1 on hand.
Cheers, Mac

As mentioned..
The majority of AVRs support only analog L/R inputs for Zone II, this is not that big of an issuse as many source components also have analog outputs in addition to their digital ones. Simply connect an RCA cable for the analog outputs..

Just my $0.02... ;)
