Pioneer VSX-54TX Dead

I have a several years old Pioneer VSX-54TX that stopped working suddenly. There was no power surge in the house as well. Now, the standby light doesn't lit up nor the fuse inside the unit is broken. Does anyone have any recommendations first that I can try before I bring the unit in for service? I've seen people posted some fix for pressure two buttons on the unit to reset it, however, that was for when the standby light was flashing. I appreciate the help.

Thanks much.

Check to see if the rectifier has DC going out of it. That's if you can get to it. It looks like a black or silver square by the AC input wire. And or check the transformer. These are the two things that may be dead.

Seriously, I have no life.
Check the outlet. Make sure it's not on a switched outlet, like my TV was about 30 years ago (and made it necessary for me to run an extension cord to another one.

Thank you for your responses. The outlet has been the same outlet I've been using for years. In regards to other tests, how do I check the rectifier and transformer? Is there some device I should use? I'm a newbie at fixing these type of stuff so bear with me a bit. I'd definitely would like to try to do a diagnosis first before I bring it into the shop for repair.

I would not recommend at all to lift the covers for any tests by you. Have you unplugged it for a while and then re-plug it to see if that by chance reinitialized something in the unit?
Have you called the company yet for suggestions?
