Pioneer VSX-522-k Apple TV Lost Sound

New to Apple TV and all worked fine for about 1 week through HDMI DVD port. For no reason sound is lost and the word "Digital" now flashes on receiver. Move Apple TV HDMI to other port and it works! Put anything else, like Xbox, on DVD port and get no sound. Added Optical cable for Apple TV on DVD port and now works. Worried Apple TV will fry this configuration and would like to run through HDMI only. Thanks for any help!

Welcome to the forum!

My guess is that you or someone else hit the "SIGNAL SEL" button on the remote control when the Apple TV input was selected. That can switch between HDMI, digital, and analog inputs for any given source (see page 20 of the Pioneer manual). If you switch it back to HDMI (and reconnect the HDMI cable), then it should work. Just let us know if that doesn't do it.
