Pioneer VSX-520-K optical to Dish Network HD box issue

Hi,

I have the receiver connected to my HD sat box via optical cable. When I power up the receiver and the sat box, I almost always get no sound. I have tried turning one or the other on first to see if it makes a difference and it doesn't. If I turn the receiver off and on again I get sound and everything works. Any ideas?

Try a new cable first. Optical cables are fragile and easily damaged. If that does not do the trick, one or other of your units have a fault. There are no code handshake issues with an optical cable.
