Hey there,

I recently picked up a Pioneer VSX-32 and am having a positive experience so far. I was able to add 2 side surround sound speakers to the setup and am taking advantage of a 7.0 system. My front towers shake the room already so I am not sure I need an additional sub, although I am considering it.

Another great feature upgrade from the prior receiver is all the HDMI connections on it. It's nice to be able to ditch the optical cables.

Does anyone else have this receiver or one similar to it with any experiences to share, both good or bad? How about any advice for setup or tweaking? I have used the initial setup (Auto MCACC) but had to go in to add more base to the front towers. I think I may try to adjust the volume as the rear speakers seem a little low.

One thing I did notice right off the bat was how far I had to turn up the volume on this receiver compared to my old receiver, a Sony DE 555 ES. That thing would shake the room at a quarter turn, while the Pioneer needs to be up substantially higher to get the same reproduction.

Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated!
Eric

I've got a -32 also and haven't had any problems other than from my Oppo Blu-ray player. Up until tonight, HDMI1 out from the player to the receiver caused the receiver to shut off and reset itself. The SACD multichannel was another problem, but they were all Oppo related and were fixed with their firmware update earlier this evening. No problems - what a concept!

By the way - I don't think you have a Samsung HD A2
Toshiba maybe?
