Pioneer VSX-23TXH failure, need new receiver.

I've been through 2 of these. The first one, the preouts stopped working, the second one stopped passing on the HDMI signal. The one with preout problem stopped with the HDMI as well. And yes I've troubleshot, my cable box and PS 3 get the signal to the TV, both receivers are faulty. I need recommendations for a new reciever less than 1 grand. I did a lot of research when I was building my system and don't have the patience for it now, so any help is appreciated. My setup goes....

Paradigm CC-690 center, SA-35s front, SA-ADP, 3 of them in a 6.1 configuration. SUB12. Samsung 63" plasma

Anyone? Just push me in the right direction so I know what to check out. The Pioneers SOUNDED fine for me, but I need them to work longer than a few months.

I'm pretty fond of yamaha recievers, the RX-A820 is similarly priced and featured to your pioneers.
