Hi,
I recently purchased the Pioneer VSX-1020, and I have been fairly happy so far. I've been setting up all of my devices/components, but I've run into one snag. I sometimes like to watch TV (sports) and listen to music at the same time (CD). It doesn't seem possible with this receiver if I am running my cable box's HDMI cable into the Pioneer and then running that signal from the Pioneer to my TV via HDMI.
Does anyone know of a way to have the receiver send the HDMI signal to my TV, but play audio from a CD or another component?
Thanks in advance.

setup ZONE 2 for the music source. You will need a separate set of speakers for Zone 2.

Use an optical cable from your CD player to the reciever. I did this on my VSX-820 to do the same thing. You select TV as the source on the reciever which will switch the video feed to the cable box through HDMI, then press the "reciever" button on the Pioneer remote and then press "Signal Sel" which will cycle through the other audio inputs of Coax 1, Optical 1 or Optical 2.

When you are done listening to the music and want the audio feed from the HDMI just press "Reciever" again then "Signal Sel" to cycle back to HDMI.

Super simple and no extra speakers needed.

Take a second say component video feed from the cable box to the tv and the primary feed shold be HDMI to the receiver then just change the input source on the tv voila
