My pioneer reciever is rated at 120 watts x 7. I have a Polk RM6600 set of satellites(4) and center, polk PSW505 sub (on the way) and i need 2 front channels. Would the RTI 10's be driven efficiently with the reciever? if not, i can downgrade to the RTI 8's, as they seem to need less power. Any help would be great!!!

I've spent weeks comparing the 8s vs 10s, and went with the 8s. If you plan on using your stuff for music mainly with no sub then the 10s are the clear choice, but if you're going to send the LFEs to a sub then I see no reason to spend the extra money on the 10s. I particularly like the mids on the 8s, they seem more meatier.

Personally, I wouldn't even get towers. Some RTi 6's would be awesome. As far as the receiver goes, I would not expect it to power RTi towers sufficiently.

That receiver has plenty of power to run the 8's. It weighs 33lbs 14oz. It is 110w X 7. While I am sure it will produce 110 X 2 for the mains in 2-channel mode, it may struggle at times driving all speakers. I prefer the 8's over the 10's. If you would prefer bookshelf, the 6's are a great choice also. If you feel you need more power in the future, just add an amp to the mains.;) It will be fine.

The RTi10's are basically an RTi6 sitting on top of two 7" - as Polk calls them "subwoofers." Unless you have a separate amp, you won't get the full benefit of bass from the RTi10's. There are straps on the back of the RTi10's, and when you remove them, playing the top end of the towers really opens them up (like the RTi6's). When you strap the speaker terminals, the towers become hogs. They remain 8 ohm nominal, but on a multimeter, they read 4 ohm. My advice - go with RTi6's on stands for the front, or at least compare them to the RTi8's. You won't get the bass from the towers even with your powerful Pio 1015 in stereo mode.

Also keep in mind, the crossover is set at 2.7kHz on the RTi10's, 2.8kHz on the RTi6's, and 2.2kHz on the RTi8's. That means the 6.5" driver reproduces more mids in the 6's and 10's compared to the 8's.

awsome info. thnx a ton guys. I need a little more mid to fill that hole between the small satellites and the sub, so i think ill opt for the rti8. I like the 6's and the price, but i think i want the 2 mids instead of 1. I had a feeling the 10's would be hogs. I got a line on the rti8's, $450 USD for a pair. Hows that for a deal?

Just a reminder, the multimeter measures d.c. resistance only. So if it reads 4 ohms it is actually pretty good. I guess it's impedance to an a.c. signal such as 20 to 20,000 Hz would be higher.

Your Pioneer should do better with the RTi8 than with the RTi10.

i know it was a deal... passed it up to get some rti8's for the same price, but these are new... i would need an amp for the 10's i guess.. so i went with 8's.

Just thought I would throw my .02 cents in on this one, I have the 8's running off a Yamaha 2500 and I am looking into additional amplification for mine.
