Hi all,
I just started having a problem with the new Pioneered VSX 1015 receiver I bought only a couple of weeks ago. I have my Pioneer DV 588 hooked up to it through an S-video cable with a S-video cable going from the receiver to my television. The DVD player worked fine for the first few videos I played in it. But last night I noticed the colors on the screen changing colors rapidly. I thought perhaps it was the DVD I was playing, so I removed it but when I did I noticed the "Pioneer " logo was changing colors also. And it was not just one solid color, each letter in the logo would rapidly change colors but it's hard to say there was any real pattern to it. I unplugged s video cable from the back of the DVD player and plugged it back in but this did nothing to help the situation. When I tried to play a DVD is morning, it worked fine for the first few minutes but then started having the same problem again. It doesn't matter if it's a movie or a DVD player menu or if the movie is paused, I always get the flickering colors. At one point while checking a video that was paused, it seemed like there may have been a pattern to the changing colors. A friend of mine whose pretty knowledgeable in this kind of thing seems to think it's the receiver rather than the DVD player, I forget his explanation as to why. Can anyone on the list give me some information on what might be causing this? Whether you feel it's the DVD player or the receiver? Could it be just a defective cable? I'm going to try to hook up another DVD player to see what happens later today but am hoping I can get some info from the group in the meantime. Thanks for any info you can provide!

Try running straight from DVD player to TV. If same issue, then cable or player problem.

Agree with AV Rat. Try what is stated to narrow it down. Also, have you played around with the progressive scan settings? Depending on your TV and wether it supports Progressive scan (476p,720p,1080p etc.)Did that to a mate that didnt have a PS TV.

P.S For future reference try and paragraph your post, makes it a little easier on the eyes :p

Goodluck.
