In my living room I use a Yamaha RX-V571 as a source for Blu-ray, cable and fire TV powering Vandersteen 2 ce speakers. I have been looking at the Pioneer so that my family can access my NAS plus get decent music. Would you suggest the Pioneer or a AVR. My current Yamaha was a temporary solution. I would like ease of use for the family plus decent receiver quality.

If it was just me I'd get a integrated and a separate media streamer.

It sounds to me like you might be better off with a AVR. Most two channel units like to play on the analog camp and may not have the necessary connections to make NAS use and other things easy. Many AVRs these days near $500 and up also do music very nicely. Many AVRs have media streamers on board. Finding what AVR has the streamers that you need is the big issue. Also, if you are playing records (vinyl - as many audiophiles refer to it), quite a few AVRs have a phono input again.
