Just bought this AV receiver. Hooked it up and it was fine but I have been experiencing problems. Sometimes it doesnt recognise the HDMI inputs and the TV flashes "no input", I shut the AV off a couple times and it recognises the hd box. I'm not sure if its me or a setting or a defect. Any help would be appreciated.

Waiting on a pair of Polk RTAI9s

Welcome to the forum!

To listen to the TV by itself without using the receiver, you should be able to just turn the TV speakers on. If you'll let us know which model of TV you have, we can help with that.

As for the HDMI issue, it might be a defect. On my Pioneer receiver (made in 2009), it takes somewhere around five seconds for it to sync up to an HDMI source when I change inputs. So, if yours takes a few seconds but eventually shows the source, then that's probably not a defect but simply how long it takes to complete the HDMI handshake.

Thanks Adam, I have run RC jacks from the back of the cable box to the TV effectivly by-passing the Pioneer, so that works. Yes, I realised that it does take about 5 seconds for the unit to recognise the source. I have been playing around with the reciever options and reading the operators manuel, but it still seems to only work sporatically. The other sources work like the ethernet connection and the tuner. When it does recognise the HDMI from the cable box the red HDMI light goes on on the front of the Pioneer, obvious I guess. Maybe its resetting after I shut it off then some how I unknowingly push the "right " button. I dont know its not that difficult. Thanks for the help.

Is there such a thing as Pioneer support to try and problem solve? With my new reciver I am trying to firgure out what to do with my two passive subs, polk and paradigm, 8" and 10" dont want to just get rid of them, I know they sell plate amps, but they are but good and have crossovers and provide for satalite set ups. TVs an LG Plasma 42

Yes, and one of my friends had a lot of praise for their phone support (we live in the U.S.). Their main support page is linked here for the U.S. and here for Canada.

Thanks so much Adam, I did send them an email a couple of days ago and no response yet.
