I have a Pioneer 74 and was able to set up everything except for the DVD video. I have the Dish STB in to HDMI 1 and into component 2 (use this as a back up should HDMI have issues) along with audio in Optical 4. The JVC DVD uses component 1 (no HDMI out on the JVC) and Coax 1 (no Optical out), along with the multi-channel hooked up. The player is set to progressive out. The Pioneer sends the HDMI to the JVC D-ILA Digital in, and the component out to Input 1. My CD player uses optical 1. That is the entire mess of wires. In part I upgraded to the Pioneer to use it as a video switcher and not have to change inputs on both the receiver and TV.
What happened is that everything worked EXCEPT when switched to DVD I had sound but no picture. I quadruple checked all connections. On the Pioneer, I have Video conversion set to on, HDMI is AMP. In the setup menu I confirmed the assigned inputs. What the heck!!! For grins I tried switching most of everything, from AMP to Through, 480P to 480i on the DVD player, but nothing worked.
In making so many checks, I tried reversing the Sat and DVD set up inputs – not the cabling, just the assigned inputs in the Pioneer; and the DVD worked, but the Sat component picture had sound no picture. So now to watch a DVD I use the Sat setting on the Pioneer, rather disconcerting. And my back up Sat component (now labeled DVD) has no picture. Help please! There must be something I missed.
A side question, can the not used settings on the Pioneer, IE Phono, DVR1, 2, XM radio etc. be disabled? It would make toggling through the settings much quicker.
Thanks, and if there are no suggestions I would appreciate a Pioneer tech support #.
