Pioneer SC35 Lose Sub bass when in Stereo?

Not sure whats up but when I listen in 5.1 mode such as extended stereo my sub is great but when I change to 2ch stereo to get a little more pop and tightness from the fronts its like the subwoofer volume has gone down to almost nil and I have to turn up almost all the way to get any bass from it.

Im getting a new XPA-2 amp to pair with this in a couple days but I still like to have some sub input from the SVS PC12 plus as well so im hoping to figure this out before i connect the new amp.

Speakers are set to small so i would think the sub would still work the same in 2ch stereo mode?

Depending on your AVR, it may be turning off the sub in 2ch modes. Check the sub settings for an LFE+Main/Double bass/similar option, and select it. Try that, and see if your bass is back to your liking.

Noticed the sub does work in 2ch stereo on my computer when listening to music but it was on my ps4 on a bd that was in dts hd when i switch to 2 ch sub goes almost nil. Do you have to change movie settings to 2ch to get sub to play. Doesnt seem like you should? Thats more of a pain then switching between 5.1 and 2 ch simply on the receiver button so hope not. Guess Ill play the movie in 2ch from menu to see if bass returns. Sometimes music movies are better in 5.1 and sometimes not thats why its nice to be able to switch quickly to hear which is better.

Connecting the amp won't make any difference to this issue. You have something configured wrong in terms of bass management somewhere in the chain or you are listening in "direct" in 2ch stereo which would set your mains to large and may also try to remove the sub. If your mains are set to small, which they should be in about 90% of setups, this shouldn't happen.

What sources are you using and how are they connected and configured? Do they all do the same thing? Sending the wrong stream type may also affect this because the receiver is not decoding the correct stream type so you don't get true multichannel. For multichannel movies, stereo should NOT sound better than multichannel.
