Pioneer SC-63 HDMI output issue

I'm having problems with my new Pioneer SC-63 AVR. Sometimes (more often than I'd like) it does not output a signal to my TV (Sharp 80inch). It's very annoying. Sometimes I'd be watching TV and it just goes out. Takes a lot of turning off and on before it comes back on.
I have the cable box and BluRay player hdmi outs go into the AVR and then out to the TV. It's a 25 foot HDMI cable to the TV but I think it's more of a switching issue inside of the AVR itself. I could try to connect the AVR to the internet and try a firmware update, but short of that, I don't know what to do.
Does anyone know of any existing issues with the Pioneer Elite series when it comes to HDMI switching?

The very first thing to do is a firmware update as this often corrects some handshaking issues which may occur with the receiver, especially seeing how older firmware may be very out of date if it hasn't been updated at all.

If this doesn't fix things, then the most likely culprit is the 25' HDMI cable. Not sure what brand/make/model of cable you installed, but if you can, try to move your setup a bit closer, if only for testing purposes.

You may find that you need to switch over to an active HDMI cable (Redmere) or to a HDMI extension kit like this one...
For only $180.90 each when QTY 50+ purchased - HDMI® Extender Using Cat5e or CAT6 Cable - Extend Upto 328ft

Short of using the Quantum HDMI tester sitting on my desk right now, there is no perfect way to tell what is going on within your setup which may be causing the failure, but I can say that it is not typical and should not be occurring within your setup, so it should be something which can be fixed. If it is a new setup, then you may need to switch over to a Yamaha or Denon receiver to resolve the issue, but first, get the firmware updated.

Thanks. I'll give the fireware a shot in the near future. Afterthat I guess I'll try the different HDMI cable. I have been noticing a lag in the picture and sound when i watch movies or TV. Very annoying. Seems like something is slowing down the video but the audio is on time.
One thing that's not sitting well with me is the fact that I would have to change the AVR to Yamaha or Denon. Pioneer is a huge company and should not be having these issues with their receivers. There has to be an answer that's fairly simple.. If it is the receiver, Pioneer should get on this problem yesterday!
