I'm new to the AV world. The SC 27 has an ICE Class D amp, while the VSX has a class A/B amp. From what I've been reading, ICE is a marketing hype and has more distortion that the VSX. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Cost isn't an object here, but pure sound is. Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi and welcome to Audioholics, :)

I'll say it's all a question of personal taste, and what match best with your own system.

ICE runs cool, that, we know.

Perhaps the VSX-23 TXH would have a slight edge on extended highs.
Then, it could be what you're after.

If sound quality you're after, have you also consider Marantz receivers?
Just a thought.

Cheers,
Bob

I have an SC-07 and if there is distortion I have yet to hear it. :D

Have you actually gone and listened to these devices?
