Hello,

I recently bought a used Pioneer 1522. Overall very happy with the sound and quality of this unit. Having a hard time getting sound out of the 2nd and 3rd zones. I have 3 passive outdoor speakers in the back yard that are connected to the receiver 'FRONT WIDE' and 'SURROUND BACK' powered terminals as suggested in the manual. I've followed instructions for turning on MAIN+ZONE2+ZONE3.

Air play works great for the main speakers. My end goal is to be able to use Air Play for Zone 2 and 3, so I can play music in the back yard. But I don't see that as source selection for zone 2,3. I've also tried sending TIVO signal to those zones, but no sound.

What am I doing wrong? Does this receiver allow digital sound signals to be sent over zone 2,3?

Appreciate your help.

Many AVRs can only output Analog signals to the Zone 2 and 3. I am not familiar with that model AVR, but that may be the first thing to double check.

Also, did you go into the config menus and tell the AVR that you are using FW and SB as the Zone 2 and 3 speakers? If not, then you need to do that.

Re-read the manual concerning what type of signal it can send to the Zone 2.

Maybe try to send it an analog signal. If you don't have an analog signal permanently in place, then hook one up for testing purposes.

slipperybidness - In the speaker set up, I've selected 5.1 + zone 2 + zone 3. The menu also tells you to use FW and SB as multi-zone. I believe those are 'hard wired' that way, thats how the manual also tells you to wire up your zone 2,3.

I'll try to hook up an antenna and send the tuner signal over zone 2, 3.
