Pioneer SC-05 vs Pioneer VSX-01

For an SVS system with scs-surrounds and cc, and pc-12nsd, as well as the sts towers, would the sc-05 or VSX-01 be better, since i can get the vsx for 574 and the sc-05 for 774, would it be worth it for 200 extra dollars, if so why, and if not why, thanks.

Well, your question is best answered by YOU. After all, you know your needs better than anyone. With that being said, here is my take. The SC-05 is in a different class. For starters it has what is referred to as "ICE" circuitry AND has a beefier amp section albeit a bigger power supply, and etc. Many claim the "ICE" circuitry results in excellent SQ. The 01 is no slouch by any means. But, it is not quite the receiver the SC-05 is. My vote would be to get the SC-05 and not look back. However, that is me NOT YOU. Get the one that has the features you need first and foremost. If it turns out to contain extra perks such as having "ICE" circuitry or a beefier amp section, then that is the icing on the cake so to speak. Good luck in your final decision. The Pioneer Elite SC-05 at only $700 is the much better deal. It retails at $1,800. It is a better receiver than the VSX-01TXH by quite a large margin.
More power, better Dacs, ICE amps, much heavier by more than 11 pounds...

thanks both of you, and i guess i am going to go with the Pioneer Sc-05, it looks good, and i really just like all the features of being able to stream music from my pc, so thanks for the input!
