HI there,
I have a Pioneer vsx826 and want to play stereo music through the whole surround sound system.
This article ( https://www.jensenspeakers.com.au/blogs/news/how-to-play-music-through-all-surround-sound-speakers) suggests this possible by activating "multichannel stereo). Is this possible on the vsx826 Pioneer model? If so how?
Cheers
Yes, and it has some really interesting features to do so, Dolby Pro-Logic II, IIx, and IIz. Read this for more info then try experimenting by comparing them using your remote. Try it with both music and movies:

Here are the audio decoder specs of your receiver:

Page 34 tells you exactly how to do this:

It says:
Use the ADVANCED SURROUND button.
Press it until you see EXT. STEREO.
"Gives multichannel sound to a stereo source, using all of your speakers."

Sounds exactly like what you are asking for.

On your pioneer I'd use the surround upmixers mentioned, but the ext. stereo mode may be something to check as well, see what works for you, altho I prefer an actual surround upmix myself. Extended stereo is what I've always assumed was what the ext stood for; it seemed to be all channel stereo when I had a Pioneer avr at least.
