First if this has already been discussed and posted I apologize.

Pioneer Electronics offers two models of the Kuro Plasma: Kuro and Elite Kuro

The Kuro has a one year warranty and the Kuro Elite has a two year warranty. Also, Pioneer Electroncis says it does not authorize the sale of Elite products online.

What are the other differences? The specs look the same? I am sorry if the answer to this question is obvious or if the question seems stupid, I am just trying to avoid the full extent of "A fool an his money are soon parted" syndrome by I am leaning toward the elite

The two I am looking at are the 60" ones:

Pioneer Kuro PDP-6020FD 60" Plasma HDTV

and

Pioneer Elite Kuro PRO151FD 60" Plasma TV

The Elite costs a lot more , but is it worth it ??

Thanks ahead of time for your answers and opinions.

Have a great day! :)

Dunno, sorry man. But, if you're willing to scoot up tv a foot or so, and move your couch forward a foot or so, the 5020 is going for less than $1,900, free shipping, authorized, from plasmaconcepts. :D

It has been over a year since I bought mine (see sig) so I'm sure I don't remember all of the differences. For me the two things I was interested in were the extra year warranty that you are already aware of, and the Elites have a lot more picture adjustments in the user menu without having to go into the service menu. I believe the Elites offer some kind of home network connection for showing photos off your computer on the screen, but I don't use this feature so I can not comment.

When I bought mine my local dealer gave me a deal on the Elite because he had more of them in stock, so it only wound up being a couple of hundred dollars more and I jumped on it.

Aside from better pq, and the aformentioned higher quality glass, light sensings, a wide range of isf options including the ablity to calibrate 2 imputs for day night. Isf settings. The home connect feature allows for network connected computers to be accessed and media played, all be it slow and takes a little time to setup. The sig series offers more tweak features and if its not a budget issue and you dont need speakers, thats the way to go.

Per your usual Bandphan, an excellent response! :) THANK YOU. ( you should consider sales  ) The Eite Kuro it will be.

Just one more question? and it is a very big one! Just how important is it to buy from an authorized Pioneer Electronics dealer? Okay they would provide a two year warranty.

I can save a lot of $$ if I purchase online Online with shipping ~ $4,900 local with taxes and delivery $5,912 or about $1,000 more. One will offer a 5 -years parts and labor warranty for $599. Is buying from an authorized Pioneer Electronics dealer really worth it ?

LOL I negotiated and negotiated to get the price to $5,000 That was their meet me in the middle price  I think it is a pretty good price but I could not get them to forego a $75 delivery fee. I like this store it is where I bought my Def Techs and they gave me a good deal on them ;)

But this online store is intrigueing :

The main difference and most important difference from a regular Pioneer and the Elite can be found in the service area of each display. The Elite can be 100% calibrated no like other display being made.

With this being said if a person does not plan on calibrating there set this would be a waste of cash :(
