Pioneer has perfected the television

I honestly don't see what could be improved. The new Pioneer Elite PRO-151FD is absolutely stunning! They have solved the last problem that digital displays have had from the beginning, perfect black. They've done it! I've spent almost two hours staring at this TV over the past two days putting it through it's paces in a completely dark room. I haven't been this impressed by a TV in a long time. If I didn't just buy a new TV six months ago I would buy this set in a heartbeat (provided I could afford it :) ). I am still in awe. When the screen goes black, it's actually black, as in absolutely no light output. Many people don't realize how much of an impact a sets ability to produce deep blacks has on picture quality. This set has to be seen to be believed. I know I may sound like an advertisement but I have no ties to Pioneer. I'm simply extremely impressed with the new plasmas they have put out.

Even in low-mid light levels the kuros have above average performance. The other nice feature that they have even more so in the elite, easy access to tweak heaven:)

Had I not gone the front projector route, I would have bought a Pioneer plasma because of positive reviews - both users and expert reviewers.

One thing about this black level though, and this goes with other colour, is that my reference is real life. When I look at the colour, I compare it to what it looks like in real world. The more natural it is, the more appealing it is to me. Now concerning black level, I know that in different situations, blackness varies. I've seen some sets where in an attempt to improve black level it succeeded in making it more unnatural looking to me, at least.

But Pioneer is in a different league, of course:)

The pioneer Elite plasma's have always been my favorite, because they are sexy and the black's were always blacker than anyone else. I do love the Panny plasma's for the $$ for sure!! great value.

Mitsubishi is supposed to be coming out with their bad behind (silly AH censors) laser TV's this fall. I wonder if it can compete with Panny and Pioneer on black levels.
