Hi Guys-

Newbie to this receiver.

I am waiting for my new AV123 X-Series sub to arrive this week before going through the calibration process.

Here is my equipment:
Sony KDF-E42A10 HDTV
Pioneer Elite VSX-82TSX Receiver
HD Tivo Series 3
Sony DVPNS50 DVD Player
Velodyne CHT Front Row Speakers (5.1 only)
AV123 X-Series Sub(This week hopefully)

I want to know the best way to hook up system for optimum performance, and at the same time be able to use the TV speakers (if at all possible) for my wife's use.

I am looking to use HDMI wherever possible. I would also love to be able to switch through the AVR.

I am awaiting some HDMI cables, so currently I have S3 out to TV via HDMI.
S3 to AVR via optical
DVD component to TV and dedicated component to AVR.
I also currently switch through the TV.

Also while I am here, what would be the best setting on the AVR for TV viewing. Let's say an HD program like the Tonight Show. I thought I had it so the dialogue would come out from the Center Speaker, but most settings seem to be coming from l/r

I've pressed Adv. Surr and went through various settings and Standard (which usually brings up Pro Logic IIx).

I don't mind having various cables connected at one time.

Is it even possible to use HDMI and still be able to listen through TV speakers?

Thanks
tase

I haven't tried this, but maybe you could send in edition to your HDMI to your receiver, but some RCA's L&R from your Tivo to your TV...

Not sure if it will work, but worth a shot...

HDMI + audio

You can either use HDMI for audio/video to TV or use HDMI and an audio pair to the TV. Look in the receiver menu for HDMI pass through. If you send audio and video straight through to the TV use a coax or optical from each component to the receiver. My TV will be on the other side of the room and I only have an HDMI cable running to it so I'l be using coax from my sat box and DVD player.

Can I access the menu OSD without having any HDMI connections yet?

If not do I use the display on the receiver itself, and how come nothing happens when I hit set up on the remote and I don't see a button that says menu?
