I am trying to remove a setting that is causing my zone 2 to time out after 3 hours. According to pg. 89 of the manual, I should select the following: home menu, system setup, other setup & I should be able to scroll to the zone 2 setting. I am only getting one option when selecting "other setup" option & it is update (but if I select it, it says no update needed). Am I missing a step somewhere?

Yes, seems like something is wrong because from setup I only get the following options 1) adv MCACC, 4) syst setup, 5) network setup, 6) opmode setup. from System setup, I get 4f) other setup (only choice is update) or 4b) input setup (only choice is rename)
Is it possible the receiver button is not functioning?

Have you tried a soft reset or a full reset of the avr?

I have not. I am afraid of losing other settings. This system was set up by a home theatre company (no longer around) & I’m not sure if other settings disappear, I will lose everything. At this point, while it is annoying, at least it works (albeit in 3 hour blocks). I was hoping someone could find an error in my attempts & avoid paying someone new.

Soft reset (just unplugging it for a bit) shouldn't lose any settings, the full reset would set it to all defaults of a new unit. Sometimes even a soft reset can take care of small glitches IME.

Just to clarify, the RECEIVER button is being pressed first, then the HOME MENU button and so on?

yes, correct. the receiver button does not seem to be doing anything though (no indicator on the display)

It's there to make sure the the button presses are for receiver adjustment and not for a connected device as hitting a menu button might bring up the menu on say a disc player that the remote can control.
