I haven't found any comparison between these 2 receivers online yet. I have read positive individual reviews of both the receivers. If you had the opportunty to pick one of the above 2 receivers which one would you pick and why. Please comment.

avr comparison

The SC 55 is a more powerful avr and packed with features. It is a better value IMO. I have an SC 35 and it's performace has been 10/10. The class D amps in the SC55 are the biggest difference. You will not get the power drop with all channels driven with the SC 55. I seen an Anthem avr at a custom shop driving some B&W and a couple of Paradigm towers. The sound was great but the speaker were straining when the salesman went up on the volume. I knew my Pioneer would have not had the speakers straining due to lack of power. Just my .02 cents.

A major advantage of the Anthem is ARC which is far better than MCACC IMO.

I would compare the SC55 to the MRX700. Even then they are quite different. Totally different amp design (class D vs AB) and the room EQ system are also quite different. It is very hard to compare the two. The SC55 probably has better video features, if that matters to the OP. For mostly HT application I would prefer the Pioneer otherwise I am not sure.
