Pioneer 919 HDMI AUDIO THROUGH NOT SELECTABLE?!?!?

unable to find under the audio parameters section of the receiver menu, where HDMI through is. I have had this set up before, my power was out for 2 hours, and then when I fired the receiver back up it stayed on HDMI through for 3 seconds, and then rerouted it back to the speakers. I reset the receiver back to the factory defaults, again pressed the receiver button on the remote and went under audio parameters, no sign of the HDMI setting. What am I doing wrong here?

Pg 65, under HDMI Audio. You may need to check the Input assignment settings, pgs. 39,40.

yeah, but how do I get to the place where that is selectable. I thought it was under audio parameters, but it isn't there now.

So it's not between SACD Gain and A.Delay, or it's just not selectable? Are you seeing the options as laid out on pgs. 64,65?

yep, it isn't there. It used to be there, but no longer. I have read in the manual that some of the items may not be there because other options are selected, SO I reset the receiver back to factory defaults, still not there under audio parameters.

You might try disconnecting and reconnecting the cables.

thanks, when I get home tonight I will try that. I will also try to select another input and see if the audio parameters are any different under that input.
Very frustrating!

Try this:

* Turn your receiver OFF. Disconnect the power cord (from the wall outlet)
for about a minute. Replug your receiver, turn your receiver back ON.

** Go to the HDMI Video & Audio settings Main Menu.
1. Assign the proper sources to their respective HDMI connections.
2. Make sure you select the appropriate soundtrack from your blu-ray player.
3. Use the Standard Audio mode (from your receiver) that would access the high resolution audio codecs.

Good luck,
Bob

Did all of that and it is back! Thanks!!! I don't know why, but that had just disappeared. Weird! Never had this kind of issue though, and have owned a dozen or so receivers!

Great! :)

* That sometimes happens when there is a power shortage; that's just a protective mode from the receiver 'self-protect circuitry', and is totally normal.

Happy back listening, :)

Problem is back, had the unit off for a little bit, then it lost the option in the audio parameters menu again. Have reset the system, unplugged everything, left the system unplugged for 10 minutes, still no luck. When I turn the receiver on it is okay for 5 seconds, says HDMI through, and then changes over to the problem. CRAP

okay, so I found this answer under the 919 knowledge base at the pioneer website, but I don't know if it applies to my situation or the 919.

Why is the HDMI AMP to THROUGH setting not available on the SC-05?
I can not make changes from HDMI AMP to THROUGH on the SC-05. When cycling through the Audio Parameters, the option HDMI is not available.

HDMI AMP/THROUGH will not be available when the "HDMI CONTROL" is set to ON. Below are the steps to turning off HDMI control. Once HDMI control is off, you can access the setting within the Audio Parameters
- turn receiver ON
- Set the operation selector switch to RCV, then press HOME MENU.
- press SET UP
- from SE UP Menu scroll down and select OTHER
- press ENTER on OTHER
- following screen will display HDMI CONTROL
- highlight HDMI CONTROL and press ENTER
- current position will be ON
- change to OFF

okay just to wrap this up, i figured it out, although I am not sure how it got turned on, and off, and then on again, but KUROLINK seems to be whats in place of HDMI control on the 919. I turned the KUROLINK control off and VIOLA problem solved.

Now, that makes great sense.

That Kurolink business was the culprit. I hate those features, they always screw up things.
Always better to turn that crappy feature OFF.
Just use a Universal remote control (like Harmony) for these kind of procedures anyway.

Glad you figure it out. :)
