I just bought this receiver and since im new to this...im scratching my head on how to maximize its perforamnce. so far i have a Sony HDMI dvd/cd player hooked up to it and a pair of Monitor Audio GR10's. hdmi is hooked direclty to my 42" plasma. The dvd/cd player is hooked to the receiver via AUDIOQUEST - VDM-1 digital video cable. now, im more into music so trying to perfect audio. QUESTION - am i using the the right cable? when i play cd's i can only hear them through DVD mode on the receiiver. is this correct?would a seperate cd player make a BIG diffrerence? i mean...both dvd and cd sound really good..but i need to assistance setting up correctly.

thanks in advance

If your dvd and cd player is the same unit then no because the AVR input is set to dvd.For music a seperate could be a plus then you would need rca's or digital cable for sound sent to AVR.
HOPE THIS HELPED

I need assistance regarding cable setup from Optoma HD72 Projector to Cable box and receiver.

I have a HDMI going from the HD72 to DVD player, DVI cable from HD72 to Cable box and Component cable from HD72 to Xbox 360. I currently have a red/white audio cable from cable box to receiver for sound.

I just set up Pioneer 1015 receiver but the On Screen setup does not show up on the screen? What additional cables need to be run for the best Home Theater setup?

Thanks,

Bob

If your cable box has DVI . . .

Then it must have a digital coax or optical audio output. Using this type of connection from the cable box and DVD player will allow you to receive a multichannel Dolby or DTS signal. The red/white RCAs are only a stereo signal.
Also, if you don't see a major picture quality difference between HDMI, DVI, and component, then take advantage of your receiver's component switching feature to minimize the number of video cables to the projector.
