I bought a KRP 500m but it got damaged in shipping. The seller has none left to replace.

I am out in the market again to look for a next possible option. Where I live (belgium), I am getting a PDP5020, Panny 50V10 and Samsung 850 around the same price point (Euro 2000).

I am unable to decide. My application is usual tv (SD & HD) and movies (DVD & Blue Ray). The TV is for my living room which is not absolutely dark but not too bright either.

Please help me decide.

Thanks in advance.

The Pioneer's are excellent. I had the Pioneer PDP 6010, then the PDP 6020, and now the Elite Pro-151FD. All 3 are great. The 50" equivalents have been equally praised and should be very hard to beat.

Depending on just how much improvement there was with last year's Pannys to this years, the one thing that the 5020 may do better with is motion resolution (a rather new, and slightly controversial metric). I expect the V10 to do better with other, more commonly used metrics. It scored higher at CNET, it has better VP otherwise, better ability to dial in color, less energy consumption, and thinner design. Still doesn't make it a very easy decision, but either way you're getting a nice TV. I'm so sorry to hear about both the 500m damage, and the inability to replace that, what a shame.

So the Samsung is not even worth a consideration.
I actually looked at a demo piece and it was looking quite good.

I'm sure it did! My first reservation with Samsung is not actually PQ, but reliability. Perhaps they have made improvements with QC during the last few years, but I believe with Pana, and ever more so Pioneer, you not only get better PQ, but better reliability too. Have cake and eat it.

Just my empirical impressions. I know at least two people personally with Sammys that died pretty quickly, one being a plasma, and the other LCD, but both were around a couple of years ago. I cannot remember which if any died within the warranty period, or past it.
