Other folks' settings won't necessarily work for your set. As mentioned, I'd start with a calibration disc to make sure you have the basics down. I'd turn off any "features" in processing you don't need, go to the most accurate mode (usually movie mode), turn off soap opera effect, etc...
If you really want to tweak you'd need a calibration kit and diy, or hire a professional calibrator (assuming your set has an extensive color management system to take advantage of such). Here's a site that sells gear and has tutorials and such for your own tweaking
