phono stage

I just picked up the pro-ject carbon dc turntable. I have been hearing I should get a phono stage. Right now it's running right into my denon x4100w. Do I need a phono stage what will I benefit And what's a good one. Thanks for the help!

Your Denon receiver already has a phono stage preamp in it. Buying a different one may make a small difference, but also may make no difference.

I have a separate phono preamp, but its only because my receiver lacks one.
