Phono Preamps

Any suggestions for cheap but decent phono preamps? How worth it is it to spend a decent amount of money on one with a NAD C370 and a Technics SL1600MK2?

Also, does anyone know what kind of cartridge my turntable has (or how I can tell)? I'm quite the beginner with turntables.

If you don't know it is probably a moving magnet. The moving coils in my experience tend to be high end. I have a Parasound PPH 100. You can get it for list through www.audioadvisor.com for about $120.Sounds fine. (It does both MM and MC) If you want to spend less try the shack.
