Phono preamp question

Hey guys, I need some advice, I'm contemplating two phono preamps, 1 with fixed gain @ 38-40dB MM and 58dB MC cartridges, 2nd adjustable gain to 60dB for MM only designed for lower output MM carts. and longer cable runs. I have a MM cartridge with 4.0mV output. I used a parameter calculator to determine optimal gain for the 4.0mV cartridge and it was 39dB. My concern is that the preamp will be at least 10 feet from pre/pro, will I need the available extra gain that preamp 2 will provide? I'll be using low capacitance interconnects to compensate for the 10 foot length. I know with increased signal gain comes higher noise also. I have a decent MM phono stage in my receiver with 39 dB gain but because of room restraints I can not position TT near receiver, thus the need for outboard stage. Thanks for your time.

I think you can use either one. The phono preamp will convert the cartridge to line level. and 10ft of good quality cable will be a non issue.
