phono input

I'm updating my receiver, and would like to know if I need to buy one that has a specific "phono input" to plug my record player into. Will the sound quality be worse if I were to use stereo audio inputs instead? Thanks.

The "phono" input has more amplification than the other inputs. So, no, you won't want to plug your turntable into a regular set of inputs unless you get an external phono amplifier (I'm pretty sure that those exist).
