I have just spent the better part of the morning just trying to see if I can get my philips SACD 1000 repaired... after being given at least 6 different phone numbers and finally ending up in Manilla in the Phillipines and still NO ONE can just tell me if parts are available for service... How this company can do business is beyond me!!! I also work for Tweeter who is an authorized Phillips dealer who sells there products and based on this absolute nightmare I will NEVER sell another Philips Consumer Electronics product again!!!!!

No, no - Don't limit yourself.

I have been installing the professional Philips DVD 175 which has as one of the major features RS-232 control. They advertise it all over their site and tout it as one of the BIG features of the player.

Then they don't give out the RS-232 code to actually control it. Not in their 'professional' manual, not online, and NOT ONE CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER! It is unbelievable how anti-customer anti-installer anti-human that company is. I finally found a number on their website and it put me into VOICE MAIL! WTF!!!

Nope, Denon just came out with a new 232 controlled DVD player in their pro line up. Looks like the way to go.

Don't jump on the Denon bandwagon. I sent in my 3805 remote a month ago after getting an email saying they would swap my black foil remote for a blue one (easier to read). I called them last week (three weeks into it) and they told me they were just looking at it today. I think Denon is getting a little too big for it's britches too. I'd be fuming right now, but the remote is so user unfriendly, I don't even care. I may start "buying American" again and pay a little more for better service. I bought a cheap subwoofer for my brother which was made in NJ for $190. It came with a broken grill frame and a hum. I called them and in TWO DAYS I had a new amp and new grill for a freakin $190 sub! Unreal.
