Today, woot.com has a refurbished Philips HTS3544 5.1 HThiB for $99.99 (+$5 shipping). This does not include a real receiver but an upscaling DVD player with a few minor audio inputs including SPDIF for cable/sat boxes. The DVD player does play mp3's--nope no FLAC's. This is still an okay unit for someone wanting basic surround sound on a really low budget. Just don't expect this to beat any Wilson's or Von Schweikert's (or Polks, Yamaha, Boston Acoustics, etc.) in the audio dept.

Not the Philips, but woot.com has the Hava HD Titanium (NOT the Wifi) on sale for $59.99 ($60) today.

Read the reviews on this product. It's a cheaper Slingbox HD Pro without the iPhone (but supports Windows mobile  and Symbian) or Blackberry support.

And even if you don't want the speakers you can go over to the forum and read the battle between the guys that think they're great(comparing to only TV speakers) vs the guys that think they're crap (comparing the $350 pair to their high $$ systems).
