With the success of their X1 headphones, it was just a matter of time to see a new and improved design from Philips. The X2 headphones feature 50mm neodymium drivers which utilize high power neodymium magnets. An acoustic open-back architecture eliminates air pressure build-up behind the driver, allowing the diaphragm ample free movement. They also feature breathable memory foam cushions to dissipate pressure and heat for longer wearing comfort.

According to the company, one of the most important aspects of the X2 is the Layered Motion Control (LMC) drivers which feature a multi-layered polymer diaphragm that encases a layer of damping gel. They say that these layers form a flexible boundary and – together with the gel – absorbs and dampens any exaggerated frequencies, resulting in a smooth and flatter frequency response. Check out the following features and specifications for details and don't forget to share your impressions.

Any word on where these headphones can be heard? I've looked at 4 or so audio stores in the Washington DC metro area without any luck.
