Can anyone help me, or has anyone had the same problem. I bought this tv the day after Thanksgiving. Brought it home and set it up in my bedroom. Great picture and I love the ambilight. A week later I turned the tv on and there was a solid GREEN screen. I tried to switch the channels and then I turned on the DVD player, I also hooked the cable straight into the tv and nothing worked. So I unplugged everything and then unplugged the tv from its power source. Once I plugged it all back in the tv worked. Now atleast 3 times a week (probably more if it were downstairs as the main tv) it does this and I have to go thru the same routine of unplugging everything and then plugging it all back in to get it to work.

I called Philips which was a joke. They didn't even listen to the problem they just gave me 2 #'s for repair shops and said to contact them for a service call. I called one of the #'s and made a appt. they called and cancelled this past Tuesday 1/23 and rescheduled for today 1/27. The guy (won't call him a repairman) came in looked at the TV said he would have to go back to his shop and look and see if there was a software update for my model (model and serial #'s were given at the time appt was made) which he could have done before he came. I told him he could use my computer and look and he said they weren't allowed per comany (he owns the company) and that it would take like a week 1/2 to get back out. He then said I was lucky that my TV wasn't a Plasma as they weren't worth the money that people paid for them. He stood in front of my PLASMA tv and said this about Philips TV's. When I pointed out that this was a plasma he just shook his head. As he was leaving I asked if he could call the support line and see if they knew what to do to fix the problem. He told me they were closed. He also told me to go buy a usb memory stick and upgrade it myself maybe that would fix it. If so I was to call him back. He would buy one but they cost 75.00 (his words).

I called Phillips support (they were open) they heard everything the guy said and then they gave me 2 #'s to local repair shops (one being the firts guys) and also told me to buy the memory stick to upgrade it if i wanted.

Philips says it has never heard of the screen going totaly green with no sound and I find that hard to believe.

Sorry so long but has anyone had this problem if so what was the cause and the fix if there is one?

I thank you in advance and kick myself in the butt for writing a novel.

I had a Philips 42" LCD with ambilight a year and a half ago and I had nothing but problems with it. I did have to do a firmware upgrade myself which fixed the menu problems I was having. Just go to Philips.com and see if your specific model has a firmware upgrade available. If there is, download the file and save it to a usb flash drive. Turn your HDTV off and insert the flash drive and then turn the HDTV on. A menu will pop up and automatically start the upgrade or just manually start it yourself, I can't remember.

Philips actually treated me very well and service person was knowledgeable. They sent me a usb flash drive with the update on it for free. But, I would never purchase a Philips, or for that matter, buy anything from Best Buy ever again.

Here was the thread I posted on Audioholics about my whole ordeal with my Philips:

Many people have stated that Philips HDTV's have the most problems out of any other company. I was able to switch my Philips for a Samsung finally.
