Phase Technology Speakers

My dad has some Phase Technology "Tetro Tower 10" speakers purchesed in 1999 that he is using as his mains. He has some misc. surrounds and center (Bose I think). He wants to upgrade his speakers to a matched 5.1 setup and is not sure if he should keep the Phase speakers. Are they good speakers? If they are decent, can anyone recomend some complimenting surrounds and center? He is currently using a Yamaha RX-V992 (also from 1999). I recomended the RXV-2600 (what i am using in my setup) for a new amp for his new speakers.

Thanks for the help,
Taylor

I have the teatro 4.5's as rear surrounds and like them. Your dad could get the 4.5's as surrounds and the 6.5 as a center or get 6.5's all around to match his 10's.
Great deal here www.onecall.com

Phase Tech is a great manufacturer. One of the few that still makes its own drivers, and one of the oldest speaker makers in the US. I'm a big fan of their PC series, but I know that their lower priced stuff is great too.

Thanks for the advice. The old man decided to keep the Phase Techs and is auditioning Aperions, Polks, and some others for the center and surrounds.

Center channel

It is very important to have a tonal match between the front and center channel for HT. Sticking to the same manufacturer and a similar driver size is the easiest way to achieve this. Matching the surrounds is desirable, but not critical.

If you don't have a good speaker setup, maybe you can convince him to give them to you and go for a new Axiom setup.
