My friend just bought Phase Tech Speakers and I got a chance last night to check them out. I have to say I was impressed, not the greatest but not bad at all. I have never had the chance to listen to Paradigm or Axiom how would the Phase Tech compare to them speakers?

I would hope that for $2,000 they would sound great without qualification. Since your friend has these speakers, you can do a comparison of sorts.

Take some music that you are familiar with and that you know is well recorded and listen to his speakers again. take some notes on what you liked and what you didn't. Then go strait to a paradigm dealer and lisen to similarly priced speakers and see how they compare.

As for the Axioms, see if you can find someone in the area that owns a pair and will let you audition them. Axiom has a Hearing Things forum where you can do that.

I think that my M80s sound exceptional for the money, but then, I would not have bought them if I didn't. I would put them in the same class as the Paradigm Studio 100.

While you are at the store listening to Paradigms, see what else they have in the same price range and give that a listen as well.

Don't forget to come back and report your findings. :D Pictures are always good. ;)

I was surprised how good they sounded. I've listen to speakers that cost a hell of lot more and did'nt even sound THAT good. There is something special about these Phase Techs that just cought my ear. For that price range I was impressed. We pushed them to the max. We powered them with a Cinepro3k6Mk3 350 WattsX6 and they hung right in there. I have to go out of my aerea sometime and check out the Paradigms. My local Highend Dealers entry level speakers are Wilson Hushpuppies, so you know I don't spend to much time there.
