Permission granted! What receiver do I choose?

My wife has agreed that it is time to upgrade our HT. My current equipment is listed below. My Rotel has been a very faithful companion for the past six years, but I'd like to upgrade to something a little more current.

My needs are relatively simple; pre-outs for my amps and 2 HDMI outs. I have narrowed my choices down to the Denon 3313CI, the Yamaha RX-A820, and the Marantz AV7005. I did look at the new Rotel unit, but I think it will be a little more than I'd like to spend and I'm interested in the new room correction technologies.

I know that the Marantz unit is slightly older, but it appears to still be current, and I've read that it receives updates that help it remain current. Both the Denon and the Yamaha are more recent.

I guess I'm looking for user feedback on these units. My local HT store closed a couple years ago, and it's over an hour to get to the next nearest that has these units. I'm hoping to go this weekend, but the weather reports are showing we might get some adverse weather. So in the meantime, I am asking the community at large.

Any advise or commentary?

Bill

Is price an issue? You didnt mention it, but is Airplay a concern?

If you can get the 4311Ci it has MultiEQ XT32 and SUB EQ HT from Audyssey.

MultiEQ 32 is nice but you will want the Sub EQ also.

I would keep an eye on these open box Denon 3312 from Amazon direct, which means 3 yr warranty from Denon.

Amazon.com: Buying Choices: Denon AVR3312CI Integrated Network A/V Surround Receiver

The prices go up & down. Last week they were $496. Yesterday, they were over $700. Today they are $670. So watch the price. When they are $500, buy one.

The 3312 has AirPlay, dual HDMI outputs, dual Sub outputs, and amp pre-outs.
+1 to both of those. I would have gotten the 3312, but the price was too high. I got the 809 and am very happy with it, but as lots of Onkyo's it gets hot. I read the manuals of both and they are almost the same feature wise with the exception of THX (which does't add much if anything IMHO). I've read that Denon has superior amps, but in my experience with both they seem to be the same when comparing at the same price point. I know that is pretty subjective, but I have no way of measuring each receiver to find out.

So as long as it is from the "Amazon Warehouse Deals" it is covered under the 3 year warranty? That sounds like a great deal. I'll have to keep my eye on that.

Ratm, Airplay would be nice, but is not necessary. I was hoping to spend less than $1000, but if I can get as good a deal as ADTG says, I might be able to upgrade my tv as well :)

Is it the current opinion that using a receiver as a pre/pro is becoming more common?

I looked at the 4311CI, but thought it might still be priced a little high. Would the Audyssey XT32 be worth the extra cost? I only have one sub at the moment, and I don't know if I will be getting another one. My daughter's room is right over the HT and the bass wakes her up.

The Onkyo TX-NR818 can be had for under $1000, well under, in fact :)

Audyssey MultEQ XT32 in the 818. And the new chassis design along with the copper bus bar and bottom up cooling fans do a great job of keeping the 818 running cooler than Onkyos of the past

Certainly worth consideration, anyway ;)
