What are the percentages you spent on your current system?
(I know it doesn't mean anything but statistics are interesting just the same.):)

Do you think you did it the right way?

Where did you waste money?

My 5.1 system brakes down approx. this way:

Speakers = 73%
Receiver = 12%
Player = 9%
Cables = 6%

This happened just by chance over time. (Kinda funny when I already said, in another thread, I thought 70%-75% for speakers was nuts.)

When I do it all over again (soon) I will spend much more on the receiver.

Processor - $4k
Amp - $2.5k
Speakers mains (used) $4.5k - retail $8k
Sub (used) $2k including amp and EQ - retail $9k
Center - (used) $400 - retail $1200
Surrounds - (used) $450 - retail - $1100
CD/DVD Player - N/A - came with my video scaler and is a modded Panny with SDI output - prior to that, I had a $250 Pioneer with modded clock and modded D/A - probably $800 total

Cables - approx $400 for 4 38' balanced cables, 5 sets speaker cables, digital audio, misc interconnects

As you can see % is difficult to say. If you want to go on retail, then my speakers are maybe 2/3 to speakers (but that is 5 channels PLUS sub PLUS separate sub amp and sub EQ). If you go by what I paid, then it's WAY less than 50% for speakers.

Very nice bpape!

I think going by new in store pricing would work best. As long as we each individually use the same pricing across the board thats good enough. (i.e. msrp for all or internet pricing for all.)

Thanks, SBF1
