Having just moved from Washington State to Arizona I have had to change TV providers. I absolutely loved my Hopper from Dish. Bar none the best DVR I have used, and I have used a lot of them as part of my job. Since I am staying with family for the time being I don't have a lot of options so I got a DVR from Cox. All I can say is... wow...
The first box I got just didn't work. It lost HDMI sync randomly and recorded programs would not play back. Went and exchanged it for one that actually works. Now, I thought Comcast DVR's were bad but Cox is on a whole other level. Is it 2014 or 1995?
The interface is horrendous. It is blurry, unintuitive, and just downright awful. That's not the worst part though. As the picture shows, I have 21 recordings. The DVR is already 85% full? it's only been hooked up for two days! I had over 400 programs recorded on my Hopper! There's no 30 second skip button? Is this a joke?
I don't spend a lot of time per day watching TV. I watch it when I have time and I will often catch up on programs months after they air. Not going to happen with this POS.
To top it off it's costing me $20/month just for the privilege. Seriously? $20/month?
Looks like I will be buying a Tivo Roamio ASAP. Will probably be in an apartment and don't want to deal with a dish. After using this "DVR" I can't imagine how Tivo hasn't run away with the cable DVR market. How do people use these things?
