PC to HDTV with Yamaha RX-1800

I am having a problem hooking up my PC to my HDTV through my receiver. I am using a DVI to HDMI cable to connect my PC to my Yamaha RX-1800 receiver. Inital hookup is fine as the picture looks pretty good on my Sharp LC-32GP3U-B. However once I turn the power off (standby) to my receiver the signal doesn't return when powering it back on. If I reboot the PC the picture comes back but basically I cannot find a way to leave my PC on and have my receiver turned off when I am not using it.

Not sure why that is, I have the same type of setup. and the picture is always there when I switch to the PC input on my receiver, but I'm guessing the problem doesn't lie in the receiver. Have you tried chaning the input to something else, then back to the PC input. Have you also checked that your PC isn't going into standby... also make sure the screen saver is turned off.

I have tried all of that. I know the PC is still up and running as it happens instantaneously after switching the power off and on. I am using the DVI to HDMI cable under the BD/HD DVD input. I suppose I could try a different input on the receiver. I do believe it is receiver based because if I hook the PC directly to the TV, this problem doesn't exist. Any other thoughts?

Update

In typical "Tech Support" fashion, Yamaha just sent me the following reply:

"Thank you for your inquiry regarding Yamaha product. Based on the information that you have provided it sounds llike this is related to the HDMI handshake or sync process between the two components. The only way to solve would be to reboot the computer."

So it sounds like they are telling me that there is no resolution to this.

That's odd... maybe try a different input like you said, and also try a different cable, or if your tv has more than 1 HDMI input, try using the other one.
