Hello Everyone,

Here is what I have and need your help on how to connect everything.

Dell XPS 8500 with AMD Radeon HD 7570 video card
ASUS XONAR DSX Sound card (3.5MM S/PDIF Out Port, and S/PDIF Input Header that can connect to the graphics card with HDMI support)
Dayton Audio HTP-2 5.1 Speaker System (Powered Sub Woofer with High Level Input/High Level Output and Female RCA Line In L with Female RCA Mono R)

How do I connect all this together and what cables would be necessary? Thank you.

Welcome to the forum!

Do you also have a receiver or amplifier? You'll need one to power the Dayton speakers. The sub has it's own built-in amplifier, but you need a separate amp (or amps) to power the speakers. You can't power them from the sub.

I will be purchasing an AV receiver....I do not know how to connect the computer to the receiver; via the sound card (3.5mm to HDMI) or from the video card (HDMI to HDMI) and I am not sure where to plug the RCA cable that will go from the receiver to the Sub...The sub has on the back two RCA female connections....L which is white and R which is red and this one is also labeled mono. So your continued help with this is appreciated.

Regarding the subwoofer connection, the manual for that sub states:

If you have a mono line level signal from a “Pro Logic”or “Dolby Digital” receiver use the right “red” input. Note: If a LFE mono output is connected, set the crossover point to maximum.
I'd have to research that video card and if it outputs audio over HDMI that would be any higher quality than what your sound card outputs over SPDIF. Connecting the SPDIF output from the sound card to a optical digital audio input on the receiver will give you surround sound, though.
